A time bank is a reciprocity-based work trading system in which hours are the currency.
The York County Time Bank exists to facilitate inclusive exchanges of time and talents, with the goal of nurturing resilient, interconnected community where everyone’s time is recognized as having equal value.
We also build community together! We get to know our neighbors better. We learn to ask for and accept help from others. We break down the walls that separate us, reduce economic segregation, and build up our relationships and sense of community.
Humans need to feel like we matter, that we make a difference — it’s deeply ingrained in all of us. Acknowledging and acting on our interdependence enables us to find more contentment and satisfaction in our lives. It makes us happier, and strengthens our community.
Since 2013, over 200 members have been making that mission a reality in York!
